Eduardo Ruben García

Eduardo Ruben García

1958 Art Style: Contemporary

About the Artist

Eduardo Rubén García Herrera is a Cuban plastic artist, born on August 28, 1958 in Havana, with initial training in architecture (graduated in 1982 at the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echevarría) and experience in the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets as an architect. Since 1975 he began to paint as a self-taught artist, and in 1990 he abandoned architecture to dedicate himself entirely to painting. His work, recognized in contemporary Cuban art, combines technical serenity with an analytical sensitivity and a focus on man's environment. He often explores architecture from unprecedented perspectives, reconstructing it to express strange realities, sometimes dreamlike but recognizable. His paintings usually include characters with body structures made of wires and concrete, integrated into landscapes or urban ruins, symbolizing social tensions, illusions and despair.
