At the age of 25, KCHO became the second Latin American artist (and the first at that age) to be part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), preceded by Wifredo Lam. His exhibitions and works have been housed in permanent collections of institutions such as the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the International Center for Contemporary Art in Montreal, the Jeu de Paume in Paris, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Vatican in Rome, among others. In addition, he has been represented by prestigious galleries, such as Barbara Gladstone Gallery, Marlborough Gallery and Joan Prats Gallery. His work has been presented in different editions of important biennials, such as the Venice Biennale, the Havana Biennial, the End of the World Biennial, etc. KCHO has exhibited three times at the Vatican Chancery Palace, Rome; The last time was in 2023; becoming the Cuban artist with the most ties to the Holy See. His work "Miracle", also known as the "Christ of the Mediterranean", was gifted to Pope Francis in 2015, after his official visit to Cuba.
